As the cast and crew of Lion King Jr. prepares for their production, the week leading up to the play which everyone involved must endure is looming: tech week.

Ah, good old tech week.  For some it is a week of dread, while for others it’s a week full of excitement for the unveiling of the upcoming performances.

I know that tech week can be exhausting and stressful, so here are some tips to help you get through it:

  1. Make sure to get as much rest as you can! Schoolwork is important, but prioritize getting sleep to ensure having energy during rehearsals! According to this website, an average of 8-10 hours of sleep a night is ideal to be productive.
  2. Eat well. Make sure you don’t go hungry, and make sure to bring food to tech rehearsal, as sometimes it runs late. Foods like yogurt, nuts, and granola bars are good snacks to keep on hand.
  3. Stay hydrated. This is super important, so make sure you are drinking enough water. You should try to drink at least 8-11 cups of water a day, in order to have energy and not feel sluggish, according to healthline.com.
  4. As Ms. Manuel would say, “be patient and positive!” Tech week can be stressful, but try your best to be patient, as these rehearsals and their energy will shape opening night.
  5. Look out for your friends. Especially if this is their first time being in a play, offer words of encouragement to them to help ease their nerves.
  6. Most importantly, HAVE FUN! And get excited for the play!

Come see the Lion King Jr. on Saturday, February 10th at 7:00 pm, and on Sunday, February 11th at 3:00 pm. Make sure to buy tickets online and come see the show!
