According to Wikipedia: In the 1980’s more than 6,000 people a day toured the White House.  In 2017, that number has grown exponentially.

Recently, I had the opportunity to tour the White House with my father, and in doing so, took a number of pictures (see below).  When my family and I arrived at the White House we went through three security checks: one was at the front where Secret Service agents ensured no bags were being brought in; one checkpoint was for verification of each tour member and to make sure we were on the list of scheduled members; and lastly, there was a physical screening (just like airports) where everyone had to walk past a K-9 dog to make sure there was nothing illegal or harmful on the persons of any tour members.

The tour was of the East Wing which consisted of the Blue Room, Red Room, Green Room, State Dining Room, China Room, a view of the White House Rose Garden, along with a view extras. Tour members were allowed and encouraged to take pictures. Secret service members are stationed in each room and were available for any questions.

On whitehouse.gov more information can be found on how to schedule tours and about the White House in general. Tours are free of charge but require advanced planning.
